Being RELATIONAL
By relational we mean a person who seeks relationships where love for God, neighbour, and self is nurtured; where integrity, respect, teachability, reconciled relationships and servant leadership is the norm.
- In all relationships my love for God comes first. Because of this love for God I try my best to be respectful to everyone and show integrity. After completing PIPI 2 I realised the importance of servant leadership and how I can serve others.
My goal for this year in terms of being relational is to be teachable in all aspects of my life and allow all people to teach me things because I can learn something new from everyone.
This year I have tried to meet my goal of being relational by allowing all people to teach me things. There are some people I learnt from this year because I was open minded to learning from them. However I still have a way to go, in terms of being relational with all people. As I go into my teaching career this will be something I continue to work on.

Being TRANSFORMATIVE
By transformative we mean a person who is committed to a view of learning from a whole person perspective noting the influence of affective, relational, cognitive, behavioural and spiritual factors in that progress.
- It has taken me two years to develop the skill of being transformative because until this year I wasn't all that committed to this degree. Now that I am 100% committed to this course I feel like all other aspects are progressing.
My goal for being transformative is to work on the cognitive influence of learning.
I have continued to work on my goal and have progressed, even though I will continue to work in this area. I believe that in being transformative, I can model this to my students.

Being RESPONSIVE
By responsive we mean a person who engages in a connected, critical and considerate manner with multiple sets of beliefs, values assumptions and structures which influence the learning moment without acquiescence to the status quo, but rather motivated by a strong sense of responsibility for all students and the whānau and equipped with sound knowledge and skills seeks to demonstrate their commitment to the well being and 'unwrapping' of each student's gifts and talents.
- I understand the responsibility that comes with being a teacher and I strive to be the best teacher I can be, which means gaining knowledge and skills for best practice. I am committed to unwrapping each students gifts and talents, this is evident in my passionate creed.
My goal for this year is to continue to gain skills and knowledge that will help me in my role as teacher.
This goal is something I feel I have worked hard on during the course of this year. Readings, research, lectures and practicum experiences all added to the skill and knowledge I have learnt and I am now feeling much more confident about my role as a teacher.

Being SECURE
By secure we mean a person who has a strong sense of belonging, design and purpose. They are self aware, know their strengths and weaknesses and understand how these influence or shape their teaching. A secure person is well grounded in professional knowledge and has a vision of how their contribution as a teacher makes a difference in the lives of individual students.
- Being secure comes from knowing who you are and what your purpose is. I have always had a strong sense of who I am as a person. Over the past two years I have found my purpose as a teacher and where I belong at BTI, which has lead to me being secure.
My goal for this year is to be secure in my beliefs outside of BTI, in a place where it's not as easy to be yourself and secure in your faith.
As my faith has grown this year and I am attending church regularly, I am getting more confident in sharing my faith and shining my light in all situations. I am now more secure in my faith and in myself as a teacher.

Being TEACHABLE
By teachable we mean a person who has both the disposition and skill to seek and receive both internal and external feedback through critical reflection, revelation, professional inquiry, dialogue and reading. They are not set in a way, but are committed to continual and ongoing personal and professional growth for the purpose of growing in wisdom.
- Over the past two years teachability is the area I feel I have grown most in. This has come from me being secure in who I am as teacher, leader and professional. I have learnt to take feedback positively and work on the areas that have been addressed.
This year I want to work on being more teachable from certain peers that I don't usually receive peer feedback from. It can be challenging to receive feedback from those who aren't your friends and don't have your best interests at heart. However I feel this is an area I need to work on before I start teaching.
I worked hard to complete this goal and I am well on my way to being more teachable from everyone... I think the key to this is to be open minded to learning from everyone and being gracious towards those you don't usually associate with.

Being GRACIOUS
By gracious we mean a person who is other entered, being able to genuinely engage empathetically with multiple perspectives without compromising a commitment to their own beliefs.
- Being gracious comes from knowing who you are and what you belief in. Once you feel confident in you beliefs you can be gracious enough to listen to others even if they done align with your own.
My goal for this year is to hear other peoples beliefs at BTI and why they believe what they believe. I think this will lead to understanding them and relating to them in ways that I haven't been able to.
I have been open to other peoples views this year and have learnt new skills and knowledge because of this. When I think about the foundation of who I want to be as a teacher, being gracious is at the foundation. If I can be gracious towards students, staff, families and everyone I come across, I can be the teacher I am born to be.
