Sociology
Sociology focus, 22nd April:
Thinking sociologically requires the ability to both understand our own worldview perspective and to see as others might see.
This statement shows that when you look at the world from a sociological perspective, you have the opportunity to put yourself in others shoes. You can take any situation and think about why certain people see it a different way, and the reasons they may have for thinking the way they do.

Primary age socialising influences
Family:
I chose this quote to represent family because I grew up in an environment where I was encouraged to be myself and to learn as much as I could so I could make my own decisions based on what I believe. I have a very supportive family and when I was in primary school I looked to my parents for everything and always had (and still have) their unconditional love and support. I feel very blessed to have grown up with such a positive family influence, who encouraged me from a young age to learn the way the world works and form my own opinions.
State:
I did all my primary school at Bethlehem College and felt very sheltered from any government issues. I feel blessed my family didn't have to rely of the government for financial support and my parents never let us know of any financial struggles- taxes, rates etc.. I grew up with more emphasis on the authority of God rather than the authority of the state. It wasn't until I reached high school that I started to learn about the huge influence the state has on society. My image represents God before state.
Media:
My family ensured I knew what was happening in the world and was up to date on current events, by watching the news and reading the paper. In primary school I had a well formed idea of how the media works and why they portray things a certain way. Things I watched on the news inputted into decisions I made (sponsoring a child) and realising that the world is a lot bigger than our immediate surroundings and influences.
Education:
Going to a Christian school that was private at the time gave me numerous opportunities and I learned to filter everything with a Christian worldview. My primary school education sheltered me from a lot of other socialising influences that were affecting the country at the time.
Religon:
In primary school I had numerous positive Christian influences on my life- family, school, church. These influences helped my to come to the decision of following Christ and have shaped my life thus far. The image represents Holy Trinity- the church I went to when I was younger.
